UPDATE: Bognor pub closed after fire

A spokesperson for the Brewers Fayre pub, The Regis, has confirmed it '˜will remain closed whilst we assist the emergency services with their enquiries'.

The announcement follows firefighters being called to the Regis Centre site this morning because of a ‘doorway fire’.

The fire service have stated: “We believe the most likely cause was a carelessly disgarded cigarette that then set an area alight’.

“Our advice to anyone who wants to smoke, be that indoors or outdoors, is please, please be careful and make sure it is stubbed out – especially at this time of year when dry vegetation is around.”

Noone was injured in the incident with all guests being evacuated safely, signs on the pub’s doors indicate it will be open tomorrow (August 2).
