Trio’s magical trek in memory of beloved mum

IT will be a ‘Night to Remember’ for three sisters as they unite to raise cash for St Barnabas House hospice.

Michelle Johnston, Nicola King and Annette Gaydon were all in their twenties when their 53-year-old mother, Sue Dorey, lost her battle against cancer.

So on Saturday, June 21, the trio, from Littlehampton and Lancing, will be joining the Night to Remember 13-mile midnight walk for the Goring hospice that helped their beloved mum.

Nicola said: “When we first visited St Barnabas House we were made to feel so welcome. The atmosphere was not as we thought it would be as it was a happy place filled with dignity.

“It was a terribly emotional time for me and my sisters especially as Annette was heavily pregnant with her first child. However, mum spent her last couple of weeks of life being made to feel very comfortable and well looked after by all the staff. We couldn’t have offered her this at home.”

Nicola took part in the event last year. She said it left her with a lasting impression.

She and her sisters will be joining hundreds of other women on the walk, which is taking place in Worthing.

In its five-year history, the walk has raised more than £900,000 for St Barnabas House, with this year’s tipped to take it over the £1m mark.
