CHILDREN at the William Older playgroup named a tree after a much loved member of staff who is leaving after two years.

The kids planted the cherry tree last week to mark National Tree Week and affectionately named it after playgroup supervisor Stella Haigh.

Children from the group, based in the grounds of St Margaret s School, Angmering, gathered to watch the planting.

Stella said: "We planted the tree to support National Tree Week and also to celebrate the Millennium by making a lasting contribution to the future landscape.

"We can get a lot of learning potential out of the tree and used the planting to get kids in tune with nature as opposed to playstations."
