Katie Gilmour, 38, was at her home in The Haven, near Slinfold, with her two young daughters aged two and 13 weeks when the car crashed into her porch last Wednesday (November 13).

There were no injuries, but Mrs Gilmour has warned that there must be a change to the road running through the hamlet to prevent further accidents.

She said: “We have lost three cats and have now had two cars crash into our house. The next thing is someone is going to die.

“I was happily sitting watching television, and thinking about going to bed.

“Then there was the most colossal bang and shudder and the whole house literally shook. My two year old started screaming from upstairs, so I ran upstairs to her - I looked out the window and saw a car.”

In September, the County Times reported how the home was struck by a car in a similar accident.

Mrs Gilmour explained that a hedge which had reduced the impact of the first crash had been cut down, and damage had been caused to the family’s porch.

She said: “We were lucky that the car that came into us was a small hatchback - if it was a Range Rover it would have ended up in the lounge.

“My daughter was very upset and really frightened.

“I was terrified - it was awful. It sounded like there had been an explosion.”

Mrs Gilmour also said that vehicles often exceed the speed limit when they travel down the road.

She added: “They don’t observe the speed limits at all.

“It is ridiculous not to have some safety measures in place. I have put in a request for speed bumps with the council, but I don’t hold much hope.

“It is all blind bends so why isn’t there something to make it safer?”

Horsham police attended the scene of the accident at about 8.55pm.

Police said the driver of the car was breathalysed, but the incident is not being treated as an offence.
