Customers will also be able to issue, renew and return their library items using self-service facilities. Staff will be available to show people how to use the new self-service units.

Councillor Bob Tidy, lead county cabinet member for community services, said: "The new entrance and lift will make it easier for all our customers to access the library and the refurbishment work will create a more modern and comfortable environment for our customers.

"We are improving the internal layout, installing new lighting, upgrading the heating system, painting and decorating, re-carpeting and providing a new enquiry point and flexible shelving."

Anyone with questions about the work is invited to telephone the library on 01424 212546. To find out more about Bexhill Library visit the county council's website at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/libraries/find/bexhill.
