Tough task for judges at horticultural show

THE judges were spoilt for choice with the number of high quality entries on show at Ninfield Horticultural Society’s Summer Show on Saturday.

Despite the mixed weather this summer, there were 404 entries, an impressive number for a village show.

There was a wonderful display of flowers and vegetables, and the number and quality of photographs increases year on year.

Baking and flower arranging entries were down a bit this year, but the pre-school butterflies made a colourful entrance to the hall.

Rose Franks, show organiser, said: “It is always good to see people exhibiting for the first time and several won awards which it is hoped will encourage them to enter even more next year.

“The hall was full of appreciative visitors enjoying the show and the tea and homemade cakes.

“Our new season starts on October 17 when we hope old and new members will join us for our evening lectures.”
