NEWHAVEN Tories have blasted Conservative-led East Sussex County Council's decision to earmark North Quay as the best site for an incinerator.

To voice their objection the group, aided by Peacehaven councillors Len and Marjorie Stanton, have draped a banner declaring 'No to the incinerator' over the Fort Rise balcony of party member Candida Terry. Newhaven Conservatives branch chairman Mike Spence warned the county council his members were prepared for a fight.

He said: ' Our message to Peter Jones, leader of East Sussex County Council, is that we do not want and will not support the plan to put the incinerator in our town. We will fight it tooth and nail.'
