COUNCIL MEETINGS: The Planning and Highways Committee meet on Monday at 7.30pm. If there is insufficient business, meetings may be cancelled. Please therefore telephone the Civic Centre on 01273 589777 to ensure that a meeting is being held (an agenda will be placed on the website). Meetings are open to members of the public who are able to ask questions for a 15 minute period at the start of each meeting. Meetings are held in Telscombe Civic Centre unless otherwise stated.

I seem to notice and feel the different seasons far more now than when I was younger. For many years I used to live where the weather suited my clothes, denim shorts and open- toed sandals, but now I am grateful for the change in the weather, the smell of rain on freshly mown grass or earth, the crisp feel of a winter morning with the frost on the ground. The early warmth of Spring sunshine and the heat and heaviness of a Summer afternoon, with the buzzing of bees in the air. Yes, the early evenings can be a nuisance, especially with elderly drivers like myself, on my rare evening outings, who find a combination of glaring headlights and poor road markings especially troublesome. But I am still glad the seasons are defined here. I feel that now, an endless summer would be like Socrates’ conception of death, an endless sleep, rather boring after a while.
