Teenager swore at police

An unemployed teenager threatened to 'do' police officers as they tried to arrest him for disorderly behaviour.

Robert Steed, 18, of London Road, Bexhill, was spotted being restrained by two of his friends just before midnight on July 13 in Springfield Road in Bexhill.

Prosecutor Jeremy King told Hastings magistrates: "Police received a call about a youth punching a car.

"When they arrived they found two males who appeared to be restraining another bare-chested man shouting at the top of his voice.

"The defendant swore at police and threatened to 'do' them.

"Officers could smell strong intoxicating liquor on his breath and his speech was slurred.

"He was told to calm down but continued to swear."

Magistrates heard Steed was arrested late last Thursday night (July 24) after failing to turn up at court the previous day.

He appeared before magistrates on Friday and pleaded guilty to one charge of being drunk and disorderly.

Representing himself, Steed said he missed his court appearance because he overslept.

He said he did not like drinking and did not make a habit of it.

Magistrates fined Steed 50 and ordered 30 costs.
