Teen village plan progresses

However councillors want the development to be reduced in size.

The village will consist of five small summerhouse-style shelters at the edge of the playing field where youngsters who are 'too old for the playground but too young for the pub can meet unsupervised.

Planning committee members supported the idea in principle but recommended a decrease in the overall area. This week the environment and leisure committee backed the comments of the planning committee.

Cllr Nick Ellwood claimed residents in the Maurice Thornton playing field area town were planning a petition against certain aspects of the teenage village. However, no such petition had been received by Wealden or the town council when the Sussex Express went to press.
