Talk will lookat the historicbackground of Winchelsea

Winchelsea Archaeological Society (WAS) will be hosting a talk on Saturday 19 July about the medieval traffic in pilgrims from Winchelsea and Rye to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.

Giving the talk will be Dr Gillian Draper of the British Local History Association.

Shipping pilgrims across the Bay of Biscay made Winchelsea famous enough to feature in what is supposed to be the first English sea shanty.

The talk takes place at 3pm in Winchelsea Church. Entry is free for members and under 16s, £5 for non-members.
