Tablers' Museum Gift

THE night when the De La Warr Pavilion hosted a glittering summer ball was remembered on Tuesday.

Bexhill Round Table raised 2,237.75 for the Bexhill Museum Appeal with their innovative venture.

Town Mayor Cllr Eric Armstrong was present at Tuesday's presentation ceremony when Table chairman Kevin Day, event organiser Darren Bush and co-worker Michael Tyrrell handed a giant cheque to Society of Bexhill Museums Ltd. chief executive Brian Govier.

The Tablers' ambitious plan had been to make use of the newly re-opened roof garden. A chilly night meant that although the reception was held on the roof, the meal was enjoyed in the comfort of the restaurant and the band played from the south staircase.

Brian Govier told the Observer: "They have done really well. It was an absolutely brilliant night.

"Not only was it a fantastic result for the museum appeal, it brought together the Round Table, the De La Warr Pavilion, Rotary and Masons.

"It was a wonderful thing for everyone and the De La Warr Pavilion did a wonderful job to make it possible."

De La Warr Pavilion Trust head of development Stewart Drew said: "We were delighted to be working with the Round Table and to be supporting the Museum at the same time.

"We are working with a lot of community groups and charities in the area.

"Round Table approached us and we were really pleased to work with them for the good of the Bexhill community."
