Sussex author Peter James is shortlisted for top award

HE IS arguably our greatest, living detective writer.

In May, Peter James’ latest Roy Grace novel Dead Man’s Grip shot straight to Number 1 in the bestseller charts - beating even the new James Bond book from reaching the top spot.

But then, he has sold more than 50 million books worldwide and been translated into 34 languages.

Now he has been shortlisted for the greatest accolade of them all - the most prestigious crimewriting award, the ITV3 People’s Bestseller Dagger, which is decided by public vote on the internet.

Peter sets all his books in Sussex and has remained a true friend of the county - in which he also lives.

Today we are urging Sussex people to support him. Visit www.itv.com/crimethrillerawards to cast your vote.

Editor Keith Ridley said: “Peter gives enormous support to Sussex, not least through his tireless fundraising for the charity Sussex Crimestoppers - which is playing a huge role in keeping our streets safe.

“I do hope readers of all our newspapers will vote for him in this most special of awards.”

Voting closes on October 5.
