The church, on that site, was opened in 1887 and has been in continuous use ever since, apart from when it was gutted by fire in 2008 and the hall was flooded in 2009.

Pearl Page, from the church, said: “We are in the process of merging our church with Park Road Methodist Church in Bohemia Road, where we will form a new church society.

“We are holding an open weekend, from June 10 - 12, when we would welcome all who would like to visit.

“There will be exhibitions of photos and memorabilia in the church hall. Refreshments will also be available.

“Come and see us, and the church before it is sold.

The Saturday evening, (June 11), we are dedicating to a reunion for all past members of the Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade, and Youth Club.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing familiar faces from the past. Please pass this information to anyone you might know. It would be helpful to know if you intend to come.”

The church was once thriving with many youth organisations, but currently lists about 35 members, mainly senior citizens, with an average attendance of around 25.

Services are held every Sunday at 10.15am. They start with 15 minutes worship songs followed by the service. Coffee is served afterwards.
