Soggy start to dry July

Almost a month's worth of rain in just three days created a soggy start to July in Bognor Regis.

A total of 41mm fell between the 6th and 9th of the month compared to the seasonal average for the entire month of 42.57mm.

But the wet spell was followed by 21 dry days in a row. This was only broken by a small amount of rain overnight on the 28/29th to take July's total rainfall to 46.7mm. That lengthy dry spell helped to ensure that the monthly sunshine total was 260.7 hours compared to the expected 239.1 hours.

The mean maximum temperature of 20.6C was just above the seasonal average of 20.2C while the 14.3C mean minimum temperature was well above the 13.6C expected.
