SLIDESHOW: Battle Arts Trail workshop

A giant bird cage and hundreds of birds - all made out of, recycled paper and books - were created by more than 250 Year 6 students taking part in workshops at Claverham Community College.

The cage and birds will be one of the largest installations on the Trail and will be centred in Battle Library, where birds will be found nesting in trees, on bookshelves, and even on the roof having ‘escaped’ from the giant birdcage, which will occupy the roundabout at the top of the High Street.

At Battle and Langton C of E Primary School, Year 4 students were challenged with the task of designing and creating exhibits which will appear to burst through the walls of the High Street - and they responded with imagination, enthusiasm and industry.

Organised by Battle Arts and facilitated by Hastings-based Radiator Arts, the workshops launched the biggest community projects which will feed into the Art Trail, which will take place on September 17-25.

Commissioned works from professional artists and installations created by adult community groups will combine with the work by the primary school children to make an unprecedented Art Trail in Battle.
