Sidley gains under county's £3.9m schools repair programme

Fifty-eight separate projects on primary, secondary schools and colleges and special schools are being carried out by the council.

The projects include major building repair work, roof improvements, heating maintenance and other general repairs. The work is being co-ordinated by council property managers in liaison with staff from children's services.

Deputy leader of the county council Cllr Tony Reid said: "I'm delighted that the school maintenance summer programme has gone so well.

"The weather didn't help with periods of heavy rain inevitably causing some headaches, especially on roof repairs but we managed to finish all the projects that were due for completion on time and within budget and the schools involved opened for the start of the new academic year."

Most of the school maintenance projects have been finished with others due for completion later this year.
