Selection of volunteering roles across the district

St Catherine's Hospice is seeking volunteers for Barns Green Half Marathon on Sunday September 25. Help is needed with car park marshalling, collecting donations and with children's activities.

Cats Protection is hoping to find volunteers who can help with ‘odd jobs’ such as baking cakes, delivering leaflets or posters, setting up and packing away at events. They would also like to find people who can foster cats in a room in their home before they are adopted out.

The Cancer Research Shop in East Street, Horsham, is searching for help with shop displays and pricing of goods, preparing goods for sale, checking and steam-pressing clothes.

YMCA DownsLink Group is looking for volunteer mentors for a Positive Placement Project. Volunteers will receive a full training after which they will act as mentors supporting up to three young people (aged 16 to 25) who are preparing for a work place, or who would benefit from support to maintain employment or an apprenticeship. A maximum of three days per month would be required.

YMCA is also searching for volunteers to help young people with planting and maintaining the tree orchard at the Y Centre in Horsham. Tasks will include planting fruit, veg and flowers; helping to clear and tidy up land; dig holes for planting trees; cutting grass and helping with planning and delivering of a community Wasail.

Horsham Matters are seeking a volunteer driver/warehouse assistant to make deliveries and collections and to assist in the running of their warehouse in Guildford Road, Horsham. They would also like to find a till operator and an assistant for their shop at Blatchford Road.

The RSPCA is looking for volunteers to visit the homes of potential adopters to discuss the implications of a pet in their home, completing paperwork and carrying out follow-up visits after adoption. The charity is also hoping to find a driver who could use their own vehicle to transport animals between Horsham and Hayling Island and to collect donated goods.
