School dog show is a tail of success

Farlington Prep School had an excellent turnout for its sixth annual Family Dog Show.

The event was held inside the New Courtyard Hall.

Over 40 dogs registered for nine classes and it was great to see so many Farlington family and friends come together to support each other and enjoy a great family afternoon on Saturday, October 1. There were many categories to enter: Most Handsome Dog, Dog with Waggiest Tail, Best Sausage Catcher, an Agility Course, Most Appealing Expression and a Fancy Dress Parade.

Headmistress Ms Higson and Mr and Mrs Michael Comyn oversaw the judging of the Fancy Dress Parade, and Mr and Mrs Tom Mursell judged the other main categories.

Mrs Mwale was kept busy measuring dogs of all sizes in the afternoon: Longest Tail went to Judith’s Haers-Galambos’s Shadow, Shortest Tail to Emma Blumsom’s Chewy and Mette Dahl’s Sam won the Longest Ears category.

The Fancy Dress award went to Freya Roberts-Barter and Daisy, who were dressed as Mexicans, complete with sombreros. Best in Show was won by Alice Slade’s Bell, and runner-up was Coco, owned by Hettie Low and family.

The Farlington’s boarders and Gapper Ruby Edwards did a magnificent job, providing home-baked dog treats to sell and for helping throughout the afternoon. As well as being a terrific event, the dog show raised just over £330 for the girls’ School Council projects.
