The Freedom Food logo indicates food products which are the result of livestock reared under conditions monitored by the RSPCA.

Products with the Freedom Food logo are available from outlets ranging from Asda, Budgens, Costcutter and Somerfield to Waitrose.

The RSPCA says Freedom Food is the only UK farm assurance scheme dedicated to improving farm animal welfare.

All animals reared under the scheme must be cared for according to strict RSCPCA standards..

Chairman Mary Bristow and her fellow volunteers had filled St Martha's Church Hall with stalls laden with tempting goods for Saturday morning's market.

Stalls included tombola, books, videos, bric-a-brac and cakes but, pre-eminently it was the Christmas draw which was the centre of attention.

The event raised 307.
