Rowing success for Bexhill College

Plymouth was the venue as current and ex-members of Bexhill College rowing team went up against crews from Herne Bay to Cornwall to compete in the South Coast junior rowing championships.

The team enjoyed fantastic success over the two days , not least in the ladies junior open in which the victors were all recent Bexhill College students.

Vinny Hourihane teamed up with ex-Bexhill College student Hannah Ruddock to join the coxed fours team who deservedly won a race they lead from start to finish.This was the first time in their history that Bexhill had claimed the title.

Bexhill College also invites students from Bexhill High and St Richards Catholic College to take part in their rowing training.

Many students from these schools achieved success during the event winning junior events including the Junior 14 doubles and Junior 16 quad races.

Bexhill College staff also enjoyed a successful weekend with Sports Academy Director, Kieran Cahill, along with Matt Hellier being part of the triumphant men's coxed fours team.

The event saw some of the juniors join forces with some older members of the club. All concerned rose to the challenge to produce some brilliant results.

Kieran Cahill who lead the student team said "It was a fantastic weekend with some great results and hopefully the success will continue."
