Rosemary's degree of success

OPEN University graduate Rosemary Thompson, from Burwash Road, Broad Oak, was presented with her BSc and diploma in a ceremony at the newly refurbished Dome Theatre in Brighton.

OPEN University graduate Rosemary Thompson, from Burwash Road, Broad Oak, was presented with her BSc and diploma in a ceremony at the newly refurbished Dome Theatre in Brighton.

Rosemary, with her husband Don and two children, moved to Broad Oak, Heathfield in 1977. She was soon involved with the Scout group, firstly with the Beavers and then as group secretary. She became the group's representative on the Village Hall committee and after a number of years became chairperson. She was responsible for upgrading the hall to confirm to more stringent regulations making it one of the best equipped and well run village halls in the area.

For the last six years she has studied as an undergraduate of the Open University in a number of diverse subjects ranging from science and technology to Third World development.
