ROOKS ON GUARD FOR BOGNOR VISIT

In March some Bognor fans brought shame on their club by making racist taunts at Lewes players.

The Lewes squad contained seven black players in that match and exchanges became heated as they approached the fences.

Two Bognor fans were later questioned by police.

Lewes chairman Terry Parris said at the time that he had never before, in his 33 years with the club, heard racial taunting at the Dripping Pan .

This week Mr Parris said he had since been in talks with Bognor and he understood internal procedures had taken place there to make sure such incidents did not happen again.

Police were also aware of what happened in March.

Lewes currently have a security steward present at all games and he will also be present to marshal the situation on Wednesday.

Lewes are also supporting Kick It Out Week, organised to promote an anti-racist message in the country.

There will be a themed programme at the Wednesday game, badges and, hopefully, an appearance from Micky Taggart, one of the first black players to run out for the Rooks.
