Road closure: Gas network upgrade in Horsham

Gas distribution company SGN is due to start work this morning (Monday August 1) to upgrade the gas supply network in Coltsfoot Drive, Horsham.

The company said that as part of a £60,000 project to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the community, the existing metal gas mains and services in the area need to be replaced with modern plastic pipe.

It will involve approximately five weeks of work to upgrade an old iron gas main in the footpath that runs from Jackdaw Lane past Kestrel Close to Coltsfoot Drive into the grassed area opposite.

SGN construction manager Steve Colvin said: “We will require a road closure for the footpath crossing Coltsfoot Drive to allow safe working in the carriageway at this location.

“The road closure is set to be in force for the duration of the work.

“However, we are aware this route is used extensively and we will look to lift the closure as soon as possible to minimise the impact this will cause on traffic in this area.”
