Reward to track Worthing knifepoint robber

POLICE are offering a reward to track down a man believed to be responsible for six knifepoint robberies in Worthing.

The 500 reward is for information leading to the identification and conviction of the man believed to be responsible robberies at small supermarkets and betting shops, since November 10.

Witnesses have described a white man aged between 20 and 40 producing a kitchen knife and then demanding money.

Although no-one has been hurt, police are concerned the man may pose a risk to the public.

A dedicated investigation into the robberies called Operation Sheridan has been set up by police, who are working with businesses in the area to protect staff..

The man is believed to have struck at the Co-op in Rowlands Road on November 10, at around 9.40pm; on November 15 at Metrobets in Montague Street at 4.40pm.

Then on November 27, at the Co-op in Goring Road was robbed at 5.30pm, before the man struck twice on December 10, first at the Londis Store in Goring Road at 3pm and then at Betfred Bookmakers in Brougham Road at 6.40pm.

On Saturday, December 12 he robbed the Co-op in Broadwater Road at 7.30pm.

Detective Inspector Rob Walker said: "Sussex Police are concerned that the offender for these crimes could be dangerous and we are determined to bring him to justice.

"We are offering a reward of 500 to anyone who can supply information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of this person so that we can continue to make Sussex safer."
