Red Cross volunteer appeal

WITH nationwide celebrations being planned to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D Day on June 6th, the Bexhill branch of the British Red Cross are putting out an urgent appeal which says, 'your country still needs you!'

Speaking at the popular monthly coffee morning at the Thalia House branch of the Red Cross in London Road, Clive Beale, a voluntary member of the Red Cross Fire Victim Support team, said they are, "desperate" for more volunteers.

Based at Hastings Fire station, Clive said: "We support the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Services, and help anyone who may have been a victim of fire or flooding, or anyone who can't get into their properties and who need shelter, food, clothing and help with insurance claims."

He added: "We are on call twenty four seven, three hundred and sixty five days of the year."

Volunteers are needed to help with medical loan equipment which the Red Cross supply and Clive is urging anyone who may be able to spare some time for this worthy cause to get in touch.

He said: "We are recruiting anyone who may think they can help; we are desperate for more volunteers."
