Southern Rail said services between Horsham and Epsom have been cancelled or delayed due the train breaking down at Leatherhead.

Half and hour delays are being reported on the London bound line and disruption is expected to last until 11am.

On its website Southern said: “An engineering train undertaking leaf-clearing duties on the railway has broken down at Leatherhead. The train is unable to move and needs to be towed to a depot.

“We are working with Network Rail to resolve the issue as soon as possible. The rescue train is now at Horsham and will be on its way to Leatherhead soon.”

South West Trains services between Dorking and London and Wimbledon and London are also being delayed due to the incident.

Replacement buses are now running from Horsham and Dorking but delays are being reported due to a crash on the M25.
