ELECTION 2015: Horsham - Morwen Millson (Liberal Democrats)

Liberal Democrats want a stronger economy and a fairer society, opportunity for everyone.

Britain’s economy is crucial to everyone. Investment in road, rail and broadband are essential and, in Government, Lib Dems promoted all three – though rail commuter problems continue and must be addressed. I now want to press Government to deal with crumbling roads and pavements, equally important to the economy and to local people.

Good education is the basis of opportunity. We want a qualified teacher in every class room. Our Pupil Premium targets resources to the most disadvantaged children. I will work to ensure that West Sussex schools are as well resourced as those in neighbouring counties, to ensure fairness for local children.

I want the NHS to evolve to face future challenges. Liberal Democrats have a fully costed plan to fund the additional £8billion a year that the NHS will need by 2020. This includes improved funding for vital Mental Health Services. The Better Care fund has started to integrate Social Care and Health, but this must go further. Carers also need more support.

In Horsham, by working with West Sussex and others, NHS England could provide a fantastic facility around Horsham Hospital to complement larger centres at Crawley and East Surrey.

Liberal Democrats in Government delivered manifesto priorities on taxes, education, and the environment, as well as many other policies. They stopped the Conservatives cutting benefits even further and from privatising our health service. I want to help further this by winning for Horsham.
