Firefighters from four stations tackled a house fire in Hailsham last night (June 26).

According to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, crews from Hailsham, Bexhill, Seaford and Eastbourne were called to Bowley Road in Hailsham at 8.09pm to find a residential property ablaze. Residents of the property had been alerted to the fire, which was in the roof, by a smoke alarm and were evacuated safely. By 10pm, the fire had been extinguished. Firefighters used foam and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and an investigation is expected to take place today.
