Four friends have planned a route that avoids motorways, adding to the challenge - and that is after they have made the 750-mile journey from Worthing to the start point at John o' Groats in Scotland.

Organiser James Beech, 42, from Rustington is a motorcycle instructor for Norton Motorcycle and Scooter Training in Worthing. He will be riding with Michael Le'Febour, 53, and Matt Prior, 37, from Durrington, and Matt Forrest, 37, from Goring.

James said: "What could possibly motivate anyone to embark on such an insane adventure? The answer is two-fold. First off, there’s nothing more these guys love more than a challenge, and should you ask them 'why?' the response is simply, 'why not?'!

"The second reason is a bit more serious, as by undertaking this epic endurance ride, the guys are hoping to raise some money for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. They are entirely charity funded. Their annual running cost is a whopping £16.6million and none of that comes from the government."

The trip, planned for May, will take the group to Land's End in Cornwall. A rough route has been set out but James said they may need to change it, depending on road closures and traffic.

James said: "Michael, Matt, Other Matt and I are going to be riding our motorcycles from John o'Groats to Land's End. And because that isn't enough of a challenge, we are going to do this non-stop without using motorways.

"First of all, we need to ride from Worthing to John o' Groats. So that's about 750 miles just to get to the start line! We will then set off at the crack of dawn to ride all the way to Land's End. With the exception of fuel stops, we are going to do this non-stop and we have made the decision to do the entire ride without using motorways."

This is not the first time James and his friends have done something like this. With Michael and Matt Forrest, as well as another friend, Graham Sole, James took on the ambitious RBLR 1000 Endurance Ride in June 2022, in association with Iron Butt UK, covering 1,000 miles in 24 hours.
