The site, near Haywards Heath started the display on Friday (May 7) and it will run until Thursday, September 30.

For 2021 – the 22nd year – it is titled Form in Nature, with many of the pieces, as tradition, inspired by the natural world.

Visitors will find works created by 34 artists across the site’s 17 acres of formal gardens and in exhibition spaces the Victorian Greenhouse and Green Tree Gallery.

Speaking of the exhibition start, family owner of Borde Hill Andrewjohn Stephenson Clarke said: “The exhibition opening went extremely well and all the sculpture has been very well received.

“The scale and variety of Borde Hill Garden means that artists are able to choose where and how to display their pieces, so that they complement the buildings and the views.

“Now, we’re looking forward to enjoying the pieces as the seasons change through the year.”

All the sculptures are available to buy with the price range from £280 to £100,000.

Borde Hill says pieces were chosen for variety in price, scale and material, and to complement the horticultural collections. The largest work on show is said to be Will Carr’s kinetic wind sculpture Fluidity on the South Lawn at five metres high; the smallest a life-size bronze hedgehog in the Green Tree Gallery created by Lynda Hukins.

Admission is included in the garden entry price and tickets need to be pre-booked.

Last year, Borde Hill held a smaller exhibition in August and September with 40 sculptures titled The Artist’s Garden.
