Retired headmaster is guest speaker at Storrington club’s meeting

hanctonbury Probus Club welcomed John Ridley to the online conference, which was held via Zoom on Thursday, January 14,

John’s topic was entitled ‘A Village Headmaster’ in which he tells of his experiences over 21 years in North Yorkshire from joining the teaching profession, until he became the headmaster at a village school, officially retiring in 2009.

John Gilbert, from Chanctobury Probus Club, said: “As with all the club’s speakers and their various topics, the meeting was well ‘attended’ and enjoyed.

“In these difficult times, the club has been one of the few to continue maintaining the sociable atmosphere that its members are used to.

“The club has been going since 1995 and up until recently, has held regular activities such as walking, bowling, lunches, coffee mornings and social outings both home and abroad.

“Because of the current restrictions, the club aims to continue with regular talks and quizzes via Zoom and at the same time planning events for returning to some form of normality.”

Chanctonbury Probus Club is a social club for retired/partially retired professional and business men, based in the Storrington area.
