University student Harry Tomlin is directing a film – currently named A Fluorescent Sky – for his graduate project.

He said: “We are really excited about this project, a feature film is something that hasn’t been tackled at our university, and want to make something great that can come out with and represent my home in Mid Sussex.”

Harry is encouraging people to visit his crowdfunding page to find out more about his project, and, if possible, to donate.

The crowdfunding page can be found at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/fluorescentskyfilm.

Harry also wrote the film, which follows Hector, a widower who owns a corner shop with his young daughter Cleo.

With the threat of a new ‘Hypermark’ opening, he battles for the store’s survival while his daughter longs for the world beyond.

Harry, who attends Bournemouth University, said: “Shooting will take place over the month of April. We are going to be renting out a closed down high street store in Bournemouth to transform and shoot the majority of the film in.

“We want the backdrop of the film to put a spotlight on local businesses struggling among corporate chains and the evolving of our high streets. It seems very topical at the moment and something audiences can really get behind.”

There is also a Facebook page for the film, which can be found at facebook.com/fluorescentskyfilm.
