Chance to have your say on Horsham’s ‘green spaces’

Horsham District Council is currently carrying out a survey on what people think of the area’s green spaces before finalising its Local Plan.

The council says that the results of the on-line survey - being carried out on behalf of the council by Knight Kavanagh & Page - will help to ‘set the standards for new high quality open spaces that are provided as part of any future development.’

Council cabinet member for development Claire Vickers said: “I encourage as many people as possible to respond to this survey so that we can understand the views of our residents and help to ensure that future recreation needs are met.

“The survey will include questions such as what type of space residents use, what is their favourite space, and how far are they prepared to travel to take advantage of the range of open spaces available.

“The information provided by residents as part of this survey will help us to understand how open spaces are used now, and will provide up-to-date local information about the quality and accessibility of our open spaces in the district. This will ensure that the outcome of our study is as accurate as possible.”

Cabinet member for leisure Jonathan Chowen added:“As a council we really value our open spaces, be they woodland areas, nature reserves, children’s play parks or allotments, and we appreciate just how important they are to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors alike, especially during these challenging times.

“So I am really pleased that we have this opportunity to gather as many views as possible on our existing facilities and to find out what people would like to see in the future to improve overall experiences.”

The survey will run for four weeks from today (June 8) to July 6.
