Pensioner arrested after cannabis factory found in Battle

A PENSIONER was one of three people arrested after police raided a cannabis factory in Battle on Monday (December 3).

Drugs worth between £30,000 and £50,000 were found during a raid at two properties in Canadia Road.

Inside the properties officers found approximately 300 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.

Cannabis was also found packaged up and ready to be delivered.

The whole site has been dismantled by police and enquiries are ongoing.

A 78-year-old, a 53-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of Class B drugs.

They have been bailed until Friday, March 1 2013 pending further enquiries.

Detective constable Nick O’Shaughnessy from East Sussex CID said: “We listen to concerns raised by members of the public and will take appropriate action against criminals.

“We would encourage any person to come forward and speak with us to help us keep our communities safe.
