Peasmarsh

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Christmas Fair at the Memorial Hall last Saturday. The hall looked very festive; the stalls did good business, the choir were excellent (as usual!) and everyone who was there seemed to have a good time. Special mention to Georgie for the lovely Grotto (and to ‘Santa’) and to the members of the committee who always put such hard work into these events. Over £300 was raised towards the upkeep of our hall; now we have an excellent building we need to make sure that it is taken care of.

The Christmas Lunch at the hall on Monday 16 December is now fully booked; the Lunch Club will re-open after Christmas on Monday January 6.

A small black and white cat has gone missing from Farleys Way. He is 11 years old and is microchipped but has no collar; he has been missing for over a week. Could you please check sheds/outbuildings etc in case he has accidentally been shut in somewhere, or if you have seen an unfamiliar cat about maybe you could let me know and I can pass the information on to the family who are missing him!

The parish Candlelit Carol Service will be at Peasmarsh on Sunday (15 December) at 6.30pm. The WI Choir will be singing, and the “Barleycorns” (previously known as the Little Choir) will be singing and ringing handbells, however the main object of the service of readings and carols is to give everyone an opportunity to join in with the well-known and much-loved traditional carols.

The Christingle Service for children from both villages will be at 4pm on Sunday December 22 at Beckley church.

Peasmarsh United were away to Burwash FC in a tough away fixture. With goals from Gavin Carey and Chris Catt, Peasmarsh were 2-0 up at halftime but a early goal from Burwash in the second half gave them hope. A outstanding display defending their lead and a incredible effort saw Peasmarsh win 2-1 and take all 3 points. Man of the match was Kiran Fox.
