Pancake fun at St Andrew's

Grey drizzle on Tuesday afternoon did nothing to dampen spirits on Pancake Day at St Andrew's church hall.

The event was to start at 3pm but began earlier to appease the queue of visitors eager to try out the light and delicate pancakes prepared by Jack Yendell.

Organiser Doris Wildish commented: "It has been absolutely brilliant. We weren't expecting many people because of the weather but they were here at a quarter to three. We were supposed to start at 3pm but the hall was packed...and they all wanted seconds.

"Jack has been working like a Trojan - he is amazing, and he was there doing all the pancakes.

"There was a beautiful atmosphere...We had a lovely time as we do every year - so watch this space."

The pancake master was backed up by a hard-working team of tea-makers and washers-up - Wendy Mutton, Edna Cooper, June Batehup.
