MAROONED, that's what the residents of north Durrington were during the weekend freeze if walking was the only way they had of getting about.

Unable to do any shopping or keep appointments, many who phoned me were understandably furious.

What has made matters even worse, is Tesco has decided to be anti-social and erect a fence and remove the wooden bridge linking Durrington with Fulbeck Avenue, Northbrook

This wilful act has prevented access to a public right of way effectively severing links between the two communities.

Clearly, West Sussex County Council has a lot to explain to council taxpayers.

High on the list must be is what measures they are going to put in place before the real freeze arrives and when is the public right of way going to be reinstated?
