Why does commissioner need a deputy now?

Surely she had some idea of the area of responsibility she would be taking before applying for the post. Is this the ‘thin end of the wedge’ before she discovers that she needs to further increase the size of her committee?

The current economic situation has required us all to experience cuts, yet here we have the holder of a newly created post requesting more expenditure.

In the context of economic responsibility, I would recommend her to follow the example of the local councillors who are to be commended for agreeing to freeze their expenses.
