Life-saving equipment given to pub

Robin and his wife Jackie are directors of The Defib Centre, a Loxwood-based company, and their aim is to raise awareness of the all too often unnecessary loss of life due to sudden cardiac arrest, which accounts for over 120,000 deaths each year in the UK, with the provision of affordable and easy to use defibrillators.

If deployed within the first five minutes of a cardiac arrest the AED can increase the victims chance of survival dramatically.

There has already been one very successful AED training session for the pub’s staff and locals in February and the next familiarisation and training session is scheduled for Saturday March 16 at 11am, at The Mucky Duck, for residents of Tisman’s Common, Rudgwick, and the surrounding villages.

Everyone is encouraged to come and have a go as these pieces of life-saving equipment can do no harm, only good, and the UK Resuscitation Council wants everyone to use one if the need arises, trained or not. You just switch it on and follow the voice and visual prompts.

It is hoped that more AEDs will be strategically placed around Rudgwick and its villages in the very near future so come along to The Mucky Duck for an hour or so and be one of the first to be trained in their use. You never know whose life might need to be saved.
