LETTER: Special year for Shipley Scouts

2014 marks the 80th birthday of 1st Shipley Scouts, based in Dragon’s Green, West Sussex. In this special year, the group are calling on the community and past members, to share memories and photos at a special birthday party this summer.

We are thrilled to be celebrating the 80th birthday of 1st Shipley Scouts this year. To make it extra special, we would really like to look back on the old times, remember the good times and see what has and hasn’t changed over the years!

We would like to hear from old members, leaders and helpers who remember 1st Shipley or perhaps were a Cub, Beaver, Scout or Explorer within the group. We would love to receive any memories, photos or memorabilia related to the group.

Do they recall fun times at camp, great adventures with their group or the challenge or earning badges?

We’d also like to hear from the community. Do they remember 1st Shipley Scouts? Did they find them looking a little bewildered in the woods whilst navigating a challenge?

Our plan is to display the memories and photos in a giant collage at our special party this summer. The Scout movement is such an important aspect of many children’s lives as they are growing up and it’s really important to show them what they are a part of. Help us celebrate this year.
