‘Hats’ the way..?

I AM a law-abiding older citizen of Littlehampton and have great respect for law enforcement.

I was dismayed to see motorists receiving parking tickets in Pier Road and in the Windmill car park on Thursday from traffic wardens who were not wearing their hats/caps, which I am led to believe they must do when issuing tickets.

I urge any motorists receiving a penalty notice to contest this, as it was not issued in the correct way.

You may say that these people were breaking the law by not displaying a ticket, but I believe the law states for a parking ticket to be valid, it must be issued by a person wearing all the correct uniform, including a cap/hat.

I look forward to reading replies to my letter.
