Focus on film and media

Year 10 pupils from Tanbridge House School visited Collyer’s for an action packed day, as part of an ongoing creative link-up.

The fourth year of the collaboration proved to be a massive success, as 72 pupils produced some superb ‘pop promo’ films with the assistance of staff and students from the Collyer’s outstanding media and film studies department.

The pupils arrived at the college with their music already chosen and their storylines drafted, ready to be guided by talented second year students from Collyer’s, who acted as trainers. Filming took place throughout the morning, with editing completed in the afternoon. The films will be used by the pupils as part of their GCSE coursework.

Mark Ramey, Head of Film Studies at Collyer’s, was extremely impressed: “The work was of a very high standard and the Tanbridge House School students were absolutely fantastic, a real credit to their excellent school. Many thanks to our brilliant second years. Without them the day could not have taken place – they are a class act!”

Lucy Watton Leader of Media Studies at Tanbridge House School said: “Thank you to all the staff and students involved, our students really enjoyed this day and it had real educational value for them all.”

Collyer’s Assistant Principal Melanie Russell was thrilled: “Thanks to all concerned for making the day so special. These talented and hard working pupils from Tanbridge House School were tremendous and we are very much looking forward to them becoming the next generation of Collyer’s students.”
