Evacuation memories of Bexhill

I have recently found page 10 from the Observer dated 9th August 1990 with a report of the evacuation on a Sunday morning in July 1940 of several schools in Bexhill to Letchworth and St Albans by train. I was a member of Bexhill Grammar School for Girls and was on that train with many colleagues, so was my future husband (John Stubberfield) but I didn’t know him at that time.

On thinking of this event it has made me realise it happened 80 years ago. How many of us are still alive? I am 92 years old and some may be even older and definitely younger. It would be lovely to hear from someone who remembers this day.
