Beeding in Bloom hold fundraiser

Members of Beeding in Bloom held their main fundraising event of the year on Sunday July 20 when Dudley and Sarah Rushmere opened their garden for a cream tea and plant sale.

The garden was full of visitors relaxing in sunshine or shade as they took their tea and admired the garden.

About £400 was raised for the group which organises the planting of hanging baskets and containers around the village as well as caring for the flower beds.

Chairman of the group, Dudley Rushmere, then announced the results of the garden competitions:

Best allotment: Jeff Dunstone

Highly commended: Mike Piper and Roger Hornsby

Mainly Perennials: Joan and Roger Hornsby

Highly commended: Lynda Piper

Courtyard: Brenda Emsley

Newcomer: (entering the competition for the first time): Christine Hough

Hanging Baskets and Containers: Belinda Elson

Winners of the Jim Heritage Cup for the Best Garden over all: Joan and Roger Hornsby for their garden in Dawn Crescent.
