LETTER: Walk now well known amenity

On behalf of Horsham Town Community Partnership (HTCP) and the Riverside Walk Project Team, I would very much like to take this opportunity to say a big '˜Thank You' for helping us with such good coverage in the West Sussex County Times and the Horsham Gazette regarding the Riverside Walk Project and the Annual Riverside Walk Event 2016.

Through our project work and the promotion given to the Walk through your publications, the Walk has become a well known and important, free, local amenity.

The route of the Riverside Walk introduces residents and visitors to the town to parts of Horsham that they may not have previously visited or known about.

The Riverside Walk now attracts many people from outside the district to come and use the Walk; we even have been informed of visitors coming from as far afield as Cambridge that have specifically come to Horsham to use the Riverside Walk.

This year’s Annual Walk Event, which took place on Saturday, 16th July was extremely well attended. Well over 250 walkers took part in the event, not including Scout groups and other groups.

The event was really well organised, which is down to the fantastic diligent work done by the Riverside Walk Project Team.

It is also thanks to the excellent press releases in the West Sussex County Times and the Horsham Gazette that the Riverside Walk and the Annual Walk Event has become so popular.

Please also convey our thanks and congratulations to Steve Robards for creating some lovely photos for this week’s coverage in the West Sussex County Times about the Riverside Walk Annual Event 2016.

Improvement work on a 530 metre section of the Riverside Walk from Warnham Road towards Rookwood Golf Course starts shortly.

This improvement work will enable much better access and walking surface for everyone whatever their capabilities.

This is the first of several footpath improvements that will take place as funding is obtained.

It is through the support given to HTCP and working closely with local organisations such as Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council, North Horsham Parish Council, the three Horsham Neighbourhood Councils as well as other local community groups that the Riverside Walk Project and the Annual Riverside Walk Events have been so successful.
