VOLUNTEER: Fundraisers needed keep Arundel Museum’s coffers healthy

The site, in Mill Road, was originally founded in the town in 1964, and is run totally by volunteers who are part of the Arundel Museum Society.

Now the group is looking to bolster its ranks with a new volunteer who would be able to lend a hand with fundraising ploys to keep the museum’s bank balances up.

The volunteer would be needed to assist with all aspects of the museum’s fundraising drives and social events – which, more often than not, run hand-in-hand.

A breakfast club for children, based in Wick, needs fresh faces to join its early morning meal scheme and ‘walking bus’ to school.

Launch Pad, run by the Arun Community Church, works alongside its partner schools, the River Beach Primary School, White Meadows Primary Academy and The Littlehampton Academy, to help children.

It’s a free club where youngsters can start off their day with a healthy, nutritious breakfast before cleaning their teeth and joining the walking bus to school.

The service takes up to 40 children. The volunteer’s role would see them preparing fruit, setting the tables, joining in with craft activities, clearing away and encouraging pupils to brush their teeth.

Help is needed from 7.30am until 9am during term time.

The service is based at the Wickbourne Centre, in Clun Road, Wick.

Cruse Bereavement Care is hunting for someone with a kind ear to offer free, confidential counselling to people who have lost a loved one.

It is looking for volunteers across Littlehampton to counsel people in their own homes and using their own telephones.

Applicants must be over the age of 18 to apply and be a sympathetic listener.

The Voice of Progress, Littlehampton and Worthing’s only talking newspaper for the blind, is searching for new readers to swell its ranks.

Formed in 1975, the group produces fortnightly recordings of local news, taken with permission from the local newspapers, as well as a talking magazine put together by very talented and passionate volunteers. Readers are required to compile one talking magazine a year which consists of a talk about one or more topic they like. Recording are held on Tuesday evening, either at 7.30pm or 8.30pm, in its Rustington studio.
