A volunteer is required to help support at a monthly meeting in Barnham (approximately two hours) for 15 members with Asperger’s.

The role would involve: meeting new members who are nervous about joining the group at the railway station prior to their first meeting; supporting group members to make conversation with each other as many members find ‘small talk’ difficult; supporting the group facilitator in dealing with difficult dynamics between members should they arise (for example talk to a member of the group that is upset in a quiet area away from the meeting); and supporting group members in setting up and clearing away at the end of the meeting and supporting members in making drinks in the break.

More volunteers are needed to contribute towards the provision of a county-wide information and advice service for older people by delivering face-to-face appointments in the home.

This service is for people that are unable to access the service in any other way through venerability or disability.

You will need to be able to provide a range of information to older people, their families and carers, assist with filling in application forms, and look at options for housing, energy comparison and consumer issues.

You will ensure that the client has all the appropriate information so they can make informed decisions.
