Help needed to preserve Arundel’s history

PRESERVING the history of Arundel is one of the roles on offer for those looking to volunteer their time to help a good cause this week.

The Arundel Museum is searching for a new steward to keep things at the Mill Road attraction in tiptop shape.

The steward would be responsible for welcoming the public into the museum, dealing with tourists seeking for information on the town and surrounding area, as well as buying and selling goods from the site.

Training will be given to volunteers on how to use the museum’s till.

The site is open seven days a week, with applicants able to cover two sessions a day, either 9.50am until 1pm or 12.50pm until 4pm.

The volunteer role would also see the candidate assisting in general planned activities led by physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Hours and days that are needed can be structured to suit the volunteer.

n A volunteering hub in Littlehampton is appealing for a new person to swell its ranks.

Impact Advocacy Services, based at Dove Lodge, in Beach Road, needs a new volunteer ‘advocate’ to help some of its disabled clients

The advocate would be a key point of contact and information source for those with disabilities seeking to understand their rights.

The volunteer would help the clients make informed choices and have their views communicated clearly to others.

Good communication and negotiation skills will be needed. Other key qualities that are desirable include the ability to respect confidentiality, develop working relationships with family, professionals and other team members and the ability to empathise with other people.
