Operation Dragonfly drink driving prosecutions

Sussex Police have announced the latest round of prosecutions from Operation Dragonfly, the anti-drink and -drug driving campaign.

Alison Crump, 50, a dental technician, of St Leonards Road, Horsham, was arrested in Danehurst Crescent, Horsham, on 11 June and charged with driving with 110mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.

She pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 27 June and was disqualified from driving for 24 months. She was also ordered to pay a £600 fine, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Ashley Ryan, 24, a property developer, of Richmond, North Yorkshire, was arrested in North Heath, Pulborough, on 11 June and charged with driving with 45mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 28 June and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Ellie Barrett, 21, a pub supervisor, of Brighton Road, Shermanbury, was arrested in Poynings Road, Poynings, on 13 June and charged with driving with 79mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.

She pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 29 June and was disqualified from driving for 20 months. She was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “A total of 21 motorists have now been convicted since Operation Dragonfly, Surrey and Sussex Police’s summer crackdown on drink and drug-drivers, started on 10 June.

People in Sussex can text officers on 65999 with the details of people they suspect of drink or drug driving or visit http://www.operationcrackdown.co.uk/
